| Groups The Women's Center offers a number of support and social groups for women. We also provide groups designed to promote personal growth. Some of our groups are open to all women, while others are open only to women dealing with a specific issue (i.e., domestic violence, child sexual abuse, etc.) The purposes of our group programming are to foster healing, provide support, assist in developing community, and offer information so that women may make informed decisions. Each month, a calendar of our groups is posted on our website. The calendar is also available by calling 617-354-8807. Partial List of Groups (see the monthly calendar for complete listings) Battered Women's Support Group The Battered Women's Support Group is a facilitated, mutual support group for battered women. The group explores practical means of dealing with domestic violence (i.e., obtaining shelter, the pros and cons of using a restraining order, etc.) and provides emotional support. The group works to bring out the strength and potential that each woman has, so that she may make the changes that she wants in her life. Coming Out Open Discussion For Women of All Ages The Coming Out Group is a space where women can become more comfortable with their sexuality through sharing personal experiences in a safe and confidential environment. Women at all stages of the coming out process are welcome. Topics include "Coming Out to Oneself," "Coming Out to Friends," "Coming Out to Family," and "Coming out in the Workplace." We meet every first Saturday of the month at 1pm in the WC Living Room except on holiday weekends. Contact mimi@outinboston.org for more information.
